This beautiful tour from east coast to west coast of India is a mixture of beautiful monuments and different cultures, Kerala Backwaters and much more. Enjoy 06 nights / 07 days on board in a luxury train starting from Bangalore and covering the destinations Mysore, Hampi, Mahabalipuram, Thanjavur, Chettinad, Kochi and tour end at Bangalore.


Itinerary:


Day 01 - Sunday Morning: Bangalore Depart - Mysore Sightseeing

Report at Yashvantpura railway station by 09:00 am. After traditional welcome & check-in formalities, guests are escorted to respective cabins & Golden Chariot Train soon departs. Brunch served on-board.

Afternoon Mysore: Visit 20th Century rebuilt Amba Vilas Mysore Palace, of Wadiyar Dynasty ,whose architecture style is a mix of hindu, muslim, rajput & gothic structure. View the durbar hall wing & personal art gallery of former royalty. Return to Golden Chariot train for dinner & train departs.


Day 02 - Monday: Hampi

After Early Breakfast , Proceed from Hospet railway station ,to visit ruins of 15th century Palace Complex, once the capital of Mighty Vijayanagara Empire. It is said that Hampi-Vijayanagara was the world's second-largest medieval-era city after Beijing, and probably India's richest at that time. Return to train for lunch.

Afternoon : Optional Excursion

Option to either relax back in train or proceed for optional tour to Anegundi. There are ruins of medieval fort, besides rock paintings dating back to Iron Age. Dinner on board & train departs.


Day 03 - Tuesday: Mamallapuram

After a relaxed breakfast, proceed from Chengalpattu railway station for excursion to UNESCO World Heritage Site of Mahabalipuram Sea Shore Temple, built with blocks of granite & dating back to 8th Century AD, still surviving ravages of times. Lunch in beach resort. Return to train for dinner & train departs.


Day 04 - Wednesday: Thanjavur

After Breakfast, visit 11th centurys Brihadeshvara Temple, where prayers are still offered. The main temple is dedicated to Hindu God Lord Shiva & carved out of single granite rock, which weighs around 80 tons & has a bulbous structure on the top. The temple tower is 66 meters high. Facing the temple is a big statue of Nandi (Sacred Bull) again carved out of single rock, measuring 16 feet long & 13 feet high. Return to Golden Chariot train for lunch & train departs.

Evening: After visiting Athnagudi Tile Making Factory, proceed to visit Chettinad Mansions built by Rich Merchants in Medieval Times. The architecture and designs were mostly influenced from merchants travels to various countries, and the interiors were adorned with things from world over. One would be surprised to find pillars made from Burmese teak, mirrors from Belgium, Japanese ceramic tiles and Italian marble inside these houses. The interiors are also embellished with magnificent art works, carvings, paintings and a whole lot of grandeur that would help you envisage the life and culture of the Chettairs during their hey days. Dinner on board & train departs.


Day 05 - Thursday: Cochin

After breakfast, visit 17th centurys Matancherry Palace, built in the traditional Kerala style of architecture, with a courtyard in the middle, where stands a small temple. The Palace was occupied by the Dutch Colonial Rulers for short period of time & hence nature of its arches and the proportion of its chambers are indicative of European influence. The Palace also contains rare examples of traditional Kerala flooring, which looks like polished black marble but is actually a mixture of burned coconut shells, charcoal, lime, plant juices, and egg whites. Later enjoy traditional Kathakali dance performance, where artists deck out in elaborate costumes and colourful makeup to tell stories from Hindu epics. Return to train for lunch.

Option: Either relax back in comforts the luxury train or proceed to visit chinese fishing nets & St Francis Church. Return to train for dinner & train departs.


Day 06 - Friday: Backwater Cruise

After breakfast, proceed to enjoy World Famous Backwater Cruise in Vembanad Lake. Stop for lunch at an exclusive Venue. Late Afternoon return back to train & depart .Dinner served on-board.


Day 07 - Saturday: Bangalore return

Breakfast on-board & check-out on arrival at Yeshvantpur railway station.


End of tour.
