Amer India

Also known as Amer in ancient times, Amber was an ancient city in Rajasthan state that served as a refuge for the Rajput to control possible attacks by the Mughal army from the city of Delhi. Nestled among high mountains, Amber is today famous for the presence of the well-known Amber Fort, a must-see attraction during any visit to the city of Jaipur, located 11 km away. Originally built by the meenas as a tribute to the goddess Amba, or "Gatta Rani", Fort Amber is a palatial complex that rests on a temple dedicated to the sun dating back to 955. Today, this fascinating icon invites the traveler to climb and get lost among its large gates, lush gardens and an unrivalled panorama of Lake Maotha, whose sunrise golds merge with this spectacle of marble and red sandstone.
